MACADAMIA NUTS
From Waiuku, New Zealand
All Natural and Absolutely Delicious

Macadamia Heaven is introducing the choicest variety of Macadamia Nuts grown in the pure New Zealand environment into Singapore.  All nuts are grown in our own orchard in Waiuku and are processed in the traditional way with nuts being hand picked, washed, and roasted to perfection by specialists who know how.  From these carefully controlled processes we proudly present our New Zealand Macadamia Nuts that are extra crunchy, creamy and tasty.
When you purchase Macadamia Heaven’s products, we guarantee that our nuts are grown in all natural conditions with no chemical fertilizers or genetic modification.  Our Macadamia Nuts are highly sought after by connoisseurs as the superior Macadamia Nut and we are proud to share our product with you.

So why are mono-unsaturated fats good for us?
A recent study at Wesley Hospital in Brisbane found that a diet enriched by macadamias actually lowers harmful blood cholesterol in participating patients. The research concluded that eating 6-20 macadamia nuts per day actually lowered harmful blood cholesterol by 7% and triglycerides by 25 % when compared with a high complex carbohydrate diet.

Is cholesterol still considered important?
The discussions and information about cholesterol in the last 10 years have been controversial. However, an increased blood cholesterol level is still considered one of the major risk factors in the development of cardiovascular disease. It is recognised that one of the dietary factors contributing most to an increased blood cholesterol level is the type of dietary fat consumed. A high intake of saturated fat (typical Western diet) contributes to increased blood cholesterol while a higher proportion of monounsaturated and poly-unsaturated fats (such as in Macadamias) appears to protect against cardiovascular disease by lowering total cholesterol and increasing the HDL-cholesterol (good cholesterol).

What’s the difference between Australian and NZ macadamias?
T
here are several differences: Australia grows predominantly Tetraphylla variety nuts. These nuts have largely the same composition, but are not as sweet and white as the NZ nut. Also, as they are harvested from the ground they have more contamination problems. Even the Aussie’s recognise that most people prefer the taste of the NZ nut, which is largely from the tree variety Beaumont. The Beaumont nuts are also produced in South Africa. As the Beaumont nut must be hand picked it is a little more expensive than the ground harvested nuts, but you get what you pay for.

The other difference is the way the nuts are dried. Australian processors dry their nuts with the hot air from burning gas, typically using temperatures over 60 deg (compared to our 45 deg). The result of using hydrocarbons exhaust products to dry and the higher temperature gives the nut a browner, cooked appearance compared to the pristine NZ nut.

Why are Macadamias good value?
Eating the best tasting products that are best for you is always good value! To look at it another way, if we pick 100 kg of nuts with husk from our trees we will have 46 kg after dehusking, 34.5 kg after drying and only 10 kg of kernel after cracking. Thus we have 90% waste products - the remaining 10% deserves to be good!

Other uses for Macadamias

  • Sexual Tonics - perhaps the most unique use reported for macadamia nuts in in the treatment of sexual phobias.
  • Mulch - macadamia husks are generally returned to the field as mulch or used for compost material.
Potting Mix & Fuel - shells are sometimes used by flower growers for growing media, but their best use is as fuel.

Clean MANUKA HONEY Green
Certified Organic Active 8+ Honey
from Aotearoa-New Zealand

Mills Farm Certified Organic Honey is from the native Tea tree (Manuka) and unique to New Zealand.  Maori traditionally used Manuka as a medicinal plant.  Man has been aware of honey’s value for many centuries and has used honey in cooking, medicines for good health and healing.

Manuka Honey is collected from bees at Mills Farm situated in New Zealand’s Far North.  Mills Farm is an ecologically clean property and a member of TOPIS (Taitokerau Organic Producers Incorporated Society).  Manuka leaves contain Leptospermone, an antibiotic agent.  Manuka honey is rich in vitamins, has a distinctive flavour and unique antibacterial properties.  According to Dr Molan (Waikato University, New Zealand) Manuka honey has significant healing properties – treating burns, ulcers, throat and eye infections, and is particularly effective with destroying bacteria associated with peptic ulcers.  The component is known as the “non peroxcide activity”.  It is also effective as a wound dressing, assisting the healing process.  Current research on the antibacterial properties of pure New Zealand Manuka honey suggests that it inhibits a broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi.

Six vitamins in honey are Thiamine (
Vitamin B1), Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), Riboflavin (B2), Pantothenic (B5), Pyridoxine (B6) and Niacin.

Manuka honey can be taken daily as a tonic and it is also enjoyed for it’s great taste on toast.  It is suitable for children above 2 years old.

MACADAMIA NUTRITION

Why should I eat Macadamias?

Macadamias - the world's finest nuts - are characterised by their crisp texture, delicate flavour, versatility of use and long shelf life. In other words, they are Yummy!

Macadamias are also good for you. Medical research has shown that the consumption of macadamias may significantly lower the risk of heart disease. So replacing some of your saturated fat intake with the mono-unsaturated macadamias could help protect your heart.

What is in a Macadamia?

Macadamias are rich in macadamia oil, which is very stable and contains high levels of the nutritionally important monounsaturated fatty acids. They contain no cholesterol.

A typical composition is as follows:

Natural oil   75.0 %

Protein 9.0 %

Carbohydrate  9.3 %

Moisture 1.5 %

Mineral Matter  1.6 %

Fibre  2.0 %

The kernel contains Vitamins Al, BI, B2, Niacin and essential elements such as Calcium, Iron, Phosphorus, Magnesium and Potassium.

How does this compare to other nuts and oils?

The table below shows that Macadamia oil contains the world’s highest percentage of monounsaturates, exceeding both olive and canola oil.
