Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay

Why does Miles like Pinot Noir? In a long speech to his love interest, Maya,
he compares Pinot Noir to his overly sensitive, irascible self:
"Um, it's a hard grape to grow ... it's thin-skinned, temperamental,
ripens early ... it's not a survivor like Cabernet, which can just grow
anywhere and thrive even when it's neglected. No, Pinot needs constant care
and attention ... it can only grow in these really specific, little, tucked-
away corners of the world. And only the most patient and nurturing of growers
can do it, really. Only somebody who really takes the time to understand
Pinot's potential can then coax it into its fullest expression."
PINING FOR THE PERFECT PINOT
The night before the Oscars announcements, a small
group of enthusiastic Pinotfiles gathered at BACCHUS Boathouse, to discover the
loveliest Pinot Noir among an array of 10 Pinot Noirs from around the world.
Winning with a substantial majority was WillaKenzie Estate Pinot Noir 2002.
This adds further credence to the quality of Oregon Pinot Noirs. Among the
other contenders were Pinot Noirs from Santa Barbara, Central Otago, Mornington
Peninsula, Western Australia and Gevrey Chambertin.
